Parklands Vision Draws Strength From Steel

01 July 2003

A visionary residential development built around a parkland environment is taking shape in Brisbane's south west at the hands of one of Australia's leading residential building companies.

Central Parklands is the first AVJennings development in Queensland to offer the choice of steel building frame technology. It is the company's largest integrated housing development to date.

The development will ultimately comprise 151 lots in a mixture of detached homes, villas and terrace houses at Mt Ommaney, 15 minutes from the heart of Brisbane.

A recreational club will provide leisure activities for residents including a fully equipped gymnasium, lap pool, tennis court, and barbecue areas in the landscaped surroundings.

AVJennings marketing manager Belinda Brosnan said a resort style environment had provided the inspiration for the development.

"The entire community is built around the park, with a central avenue linking the recreation club through the estate and beyond to external parkland which overlooks a golf course," Ms Brosnan said.

"A mixture of housing styles includes three storey detached houses, terrace houses and attached villas.

"The villas are designed to suit first home buyers, while the detached homes are ideal for families.

"The terrace homes could be the choice for older people who want the benefits of space - without the high level of maintenance traditionally associated with a large home on a bigger sized block."

The growing acceptance of steel building frame technology prompted AVJennings to specify Steel House Frames made from ZINCALUME® steel for the Mt Ommaney project.

Steel frame specialists Steel House Frames and Scottsdale Steel Framing Systems are supplying and erecting the frames.

All the homes at Central Parklands will feature building frames made from ZINCALUME® steel and roofing made from COLORBOND® steel.

"Today's consumers are more aware of the benefits of ZINCALUME® steel such as strength, rigidity and protection against termites," Ms Brosnan said.
