Sheds that Put Smiles on Dials

19 July 2006

You can dial a pizza, dial a cleaner, dial a dog wash, but have you ever thought to Dial-a-Shed? If not, think again. Furniture removal trucks are carrying them across the country to an eager army of home handymen.

A phone call to Melbourne based company Dial-a-Shed means a shed can be delivered to a customer's doorstep in a matter of days.

Sheds have traditionally been used by gardeners and home handymen as places to store tools, but Dial-a-Shed's Alan Knewstubb recently sold one that became a music studio during a makeover on television show Backyard Blitz.

"We supplied the shed with a COLORBOND® steel roof and gutters and shipped it by truck to Sydney", Alan says.

The company provides self assembled kit sheds as well as an onsite measure, quote and installation service for steel and timber sheds.

"When an interstate client buys a kit shed, the COLORBOND® steel roof and rainwater goods made by BlueScope Steel are delivered by a supplier in their area so that travel damage is minimised", Alan says.

The company's focus on quality has attracted a large interstate market, particularly in the ACT, where Alan sends dozens of sheds each year.

"The sheds range in size from 1.5 by 1.5 metres to 7.5 by 3.8 metres", Alan says. "Most people use them as workshops, hobby rooms or furniture storage facilities."

Dial-a-Shed sources all its COLORBOND® steel, ZINCALUME® steel and BlueScope Steel rainwater goods from Stramit Building Products.

Alan says his company uses COLORBOND® steel because it gives it a leading edge. "BlueScope Steel products are tried and proven, and if there's a technical problem help is just around the corner", Alan says.

"A lot of people in the garden shed industry offer limited colours, but COLORBOND® steel gives us a greater range of colours for our sheds, which our customers appreciate."

Dial-a-Shed is a member of the Steel By BlueScope Steel Brand Partnership Program.

"I saw it as a real advantage to be associated with BlueScope Steel for quality and networking reasons", Alan says.

Dial-a-Shed uses the reputation of the BlueScope Steel brand to reinforce the quality of its sheds and services, and to emphasise that its products are Australian made.
